Because Smiles Are Fun

The Department of the Navy was assigning females to quarters in a separate, private, OFF LIMITS area on all aircraft carriers.

Addressing all ship personnel at Pearl Harbor, the Commanding Officer advised, “The female sleeping quarters will be out-of-bounds for all males. Anybody caught braking this rule will be fined $50.00 the first time.

He continued, “Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $150.00. Being caught a third time will cost you a fine of $500.00. Are there any questions?”

At this point, a Marine Gunnery Sergeant, from security detail assigned to the ship, stood up in the crowd and inquired: “How much for a season pass?”

Have a smiley week!

    Have a great week!

If you hadn’t identified the culprit as a gunny, I would have figured it was my brother. BTW, his quarters on the USS Ronald Reagan was under the flight deck, right about where the planes touch down.

I so wish my Uncle was still alive. He was a gunnery officer by training and left the (British) Navy as a Commander, hightailed it to Harvard from whence he made his life and eventually his Citizenship in the US. He would certainly have appreciated the joke. Thank you …. you have inadvertently brought back some happy memories of a great man.

We all need humor in our lives and this was certainly a fun one, George! I could envision retelling this with possible private boys schools, girls and boys separate quarters or camps across a lake! 😉 😀
